A little help - seabands or something right??

grapfruit wrote: My friend, the one that gave me the perm and cut my hair, is having MAJOR problems w/morning sickness. She gets sick everyday all day long. Her dr gave her pills, but her problem is she can't keep those down in the morning.

I was telling her that some of you used what I believe are called "Sea Bands" or something right??? And that for some of you they worked great. She's ready to try anything sad.gif

She did say the up side to being pregnant is that her super excited hubby (who has names picked out already rolling_smile.gif ) has been doing dishes and stuff for her. happy.gif

He's out Christmas shopping w/Tim right now. And when they get back I want to be able to tell him what to get and if possible where to get them. Also if anyone knows approx how much they cost ALL would be appreciated!!!!!!

A&A'smommy replied: I have never heard of sea bands but I heard the preggo pops work well you can get those at any toysrus (or babiesrus) and also from pretty much any maternity shop (like motherhood)... it sounds like she has it pretty bad.. but I was told 6 small meals a day, and that anything with ginger root in it will help (ginger ale or ginger snaps or adding ginger too other foods)

Calimama replied: Can you use those during pregnancy? huh.gif Anyway I had bad m/s until about 13 weeks. I ate snacks, snacks, and more snacks. Before I got up for the day DH would bring me crackers and juice, I would go back to sleep, eat again. Pretty much every hour. That REALLY helped. Of course I had no clue it would work until like 9 weeks. rolleyes.gif

grapfruit replied:
She said the old cracker or snack b/fore you lift your head off the pillow is NOT working at ALL for her. sad.gif I feel so bad b/c she still goes to work. She just has to walk away every now and then.

I'll have to go search, b/c I know somebody said they'd used them and only got sick in the shower when they took them off...

grapfruit replied: Ok! They ARE Sea Bands per this thread!

I'm just going to google them and tell him where to go get them!!

Update to that: I googled them and you can get them like anywhere (CVS, Walgreens, Kroger, RiteAid, etc) and they're like $10 for a pair. And they're ugly, but I guess if they work!!!! Tim and Ryan (her husband) are going to stop on the way back for her. smile.gif

Calimama replied:
Glad you found them! I used those on a cruise when I was pregnant, just sea sick and they worked!

moped replied: Yes seabands but they didn't help me at all - I have heard they do help some people!

luvmykids replied: Tell her to try sipping some room temperature Coke (NOT Pepsi!) Or even better, ask her pharmacist for Coca Cola Syrup...you just pour a tiny bit over some crushed ice and sip that. The syrup actually has an anti-nausea ingredient in it.

When it got really bad for me, I took Emetrol, an anti-nausea med available just about anywhere. She should clear it with her dr but last I heard it's still very commonly used.

jem0622 replied: I have a friend who wore them for the first 6 mos of each pregnancy. They did help.

Preggo Pops? Has she tried those? Keeping saltines by the bed and having a few before she gets up?

Small frequent meals are helpful too.

Anthony275 replied: how do those things work? does the circle thing trigger something to the nerves in the wrist?

maestra replied: You can also tell her that zofran, another medication that her dr can put her on if it gets bad, is available in an ODT form, or orally dissolving tablet. I get really really bad ms, and I was able to keep that down.

grapfruit replied: Thanks guys I'll let her know if these don't work. The ONLY thing she's able to constantly keep down is 7up. She can't do any dark pop. They make her sick too. sad.gif Her husband bought them for her last night, so I'm hoping they work.

I'll let you know how she does w/them.

Oh and Anthony, the plastic 'post' hits a pressure point. It's like portable acupuncture.
