amynicole21 replied: Tell us again where the name "Schnoogly" came from wink.gif

How did you tell DH you were expecting Iain?

What were his stats at birth/now?

supermom replied: Is he all done with his surgeries? <hopefully> and wont' have to have any more?

Kaitlin'smom replied: does he eat baby food? if so what are his favorites?

least favorites?

maliksmommy replied: What's your favorite game to play with him.

What's his favortite toy/bath toy?

What's his most recent milestone?

ediep replied: does he have a nursery?
How is it decorated?

Mommieto2Girls replied: Is Iain ff or bf? how much or how often?

Is he scooting, or trying to crawl?

Mommieto2Girls replied: How often does Iain get a bath?

What type of baby bath do you use?

What type of diapering and wipes?

Does he like to watch tv yet?

Schnoogly replied:
Wow it's our day!

Schnoogly came from Iain himself, when he was about 2 months old I asked him what his name was and he said "noooooogggly!" I added the "sch" for emphasis and it stuck. We've been calling him that ever since.

DH was with me when we did the PG test. I got PG the first month we tried, and although I was pretty sure I was, we were terrified since it happened so fast! He didn't quite believe it and wanted me to do another test. It took a few days to sink in.

At birth, 6 lbs 10.7oz, 19" now about 17lbs and 26" (measured him the other day)

Schnoogly replied:
Yes, hopefully!!! The surgeon told us that because they were able to save most of his pulmonary valve he has a good chance of not needing any more surgeries, but tetralogy babies have about a 20% chance of needing valve replacement later in life. We won't know until he shows symptoms, and he gets regular checkups with the pediatric cardiologist to make sure he's doing OK.

He won't be able to play contact sports ever, and might want to think twice about having kids himself, and I am sad for that, but all went pretty well considering.

Schnoogly replied:
Yep, he eats bananas, peaches, peas, and carrots, a few teaspoons once a day. He has tried avocado, squash, sweet potatoes, pears, and apples and doesn't really like them. He sometimes gets oatmeal in his nighttime bottles (rice cereal makes him constipated!) Avocado got the worst reaction--screaming! I had to wipe it out of his mouth!

Schnoogly replied:
favorite game--playing on the floor, me lying on my back and he sits on my stomach. Or I hold him up standing, then lay him on his tummy, then grab his hips and hold him upside down. He squeals with laughter when I do that!

Fave bath toy is the empty peri bottle I use to rinse his hair with.

Recent milestone--said "mama" the other day, also has been sitting really well for about a month now.

Schnoogly replied:
He does, but he only gets baths (in his eurobath on the floor) and diaper changes (in his crib) in there. It's mossy green with a frog theme. But there isn't really anything on the walls--I was going to decorate once I went on maternity leave but he came early!!

Schnoogly replied:
Both BF and FF, about half and half. He gets about 4-5 2-4oz bottles of alimentum a day (dairy allergy) but not at night (only BFs at night), and BFs about every 2 hours or when he is ready for a nap.

He is trying to crawl so bad! He gets up on hands and knees for a moment, then crashes. And he scoots backwards and in a circle. It makes him really mad.

Schnoogly replied:
Baths--usually every other day, in the evening since it helps him wind down. Sometimes every day if the peas get really embedded.

I use california baby bodywash, mustela shampoo (the mousse kind--got it as a shower gift!) and aveeno baby bath.

Cloth kissaluvs diapers with motherease airflow covers, some other kinds too, and occasionally pampers cruisers if we're going out and I don't want to mess with cloth or if I'm washing all his dipes. Cloth wipes too with my own wipe solution.

He does like TV, we watch about 15 minutes of sesame street every morning. He loves the Count! DH "counts" his snaps on his clothes in the count voice when he dresses him, it's so cute! That's about all he can handle though--it's very exciting!!

amynicole21 replied: Are there any personality traits that you hope he gets from you? DH? Any you hope he doesn't get? tongue.gif

Schnoogly replied: I hope he gets DH's patience (not my impatience), my independence and extroverted-ness (not Dh's moodiness), DH's kindness, not my tactlessness!

catou_98 replied: Does Iain uses a pacifier? his thumb? other?

Does he have a security objet? if so what is it?

Schnoogly replied: He has never been a big pacifier fan. He used them when he was in the hospital and occasionally DH gets him to take one. My nipples are much preferred. He likes to chew on his first two fingers, sometimes of both hands at the same time!

I am his security object! But he really likes the big beanie baby orange crab my mom got me for christmas several years ago, likes to carry that with him in the car. I never thought when I got it that it would be my baby's favorite object!

amynicole21 replied: How does Iain do in the car? Do you listen to baby cd's in the car with him?

supermom replied: Iain's middle name is Samwise, can you tell us the story behind that?

Schnoogly replied:
Well until we got the new carseat (he was in a graco snugride infant seat, and we got a britax roundabout about a month ago) he was AWFUL in the car, screamed from the minute he was in the seat until he was removed from it.

But now he can see out a little bit better and he is much calmer. He definitely has his moments though!

I have baby lullabies we listen to at home, haven't taken them in the car yet but I do sing to him in the car when he's mad.

Schnoogly replied:
Ah, supermom you did some digging!

We actually decided on his middle name long before we decided on a first name. DH has been a Tolkein fan since he was a kid, and I really like the name Sam but I didn't like any of the longer versions--Samuel, Samson etc. We thought Samwise sounded different but not TOO geeky (we didn't make it his first name!) and as it turned out it was a great name, since the character is steadfast and loyal with a very strong heart. Maybe his namesake did him some good!

Sorry so long winded but you asked for it!

Mommieto2Girls replied: Does Iain mind wearing shoes and socks?

Do you give him juice? if so what kind and how much? do you mix it?

Mommieto2Girls replied: Are you planning on having anymore children?

Does dad help alot with baby care? feeding, changing, cleaning up after?

Schnoogly replied:
He hates socks. He only has one pair of soft shoes which he has worn once. They are too small now. I'm not planning on getting him any until he is standing/walking.

Juice, sometimes. Pear or white grape juice, diluted 1 part juice to 2 parts water (he doesn't like it any stronger). He'll only drink about 1-2 oz. We give it to him mostly to help with the pooing.

Schnoogly replied:
Yes, I'd like one, maybe two more. Definitely one more. We'll see after that! I hated being pregnant, I wish it only lasted 3-4 months. We're planning to try again after Iain turns two. He is high maintenance so we need to get past the toddler years before I get pg again!! Also we're terrified of having another with heart defects, so we are planning to go for genetic testing and have echocardiograms ourselves before we try again. we don't know of any genetic history in our families, but there could be things we don't know. If it turns out we are carriers, we'll adopt or take in a foster kid. I will definitely be disappointed though, I really want to have another.

Dad helps TONS with baby care. He is feeding Iain his bedtime bottle right now! He always takes care of him when he gets home from work while I make dinner. (He'd make dinner if I wanted, but I like to have a little break from Iain and he needs dad time.) The only thing he doesn't really do often is bathe Iain, but he will sometimes take a bath with him. He is a GREAT dad, I am so lucky!! Neither of us do much cleaning up laugh.gif

Mommieto2Girls replied: I hope everything turns out ok when you guys go to have more children, and I wish you both the best.

supermom replied:
No, I am glad you told - smile - and I just happened to re-read your website the other day and it got me curious. I had meant to ask you before when I read your web page the first time, but just didn't ever get around to it!!

Schnoogly replied:
Thank you! I hope Maddie gets a sibling soon, I know you're TTC.
Steph

Mommieto2Girls replied:
Thank you so much, we keep trying, but if it's ment to be it will happen , if it's not , then at least we have Madison. smile.gif
